SUMMARY:Unlock the Future of Retrofitting: Learn How Dextall’s S-Wall System Outperforms EIFS
DESCRIPTION:Join Dextall’s expert team for an in-depth exploration of the innovative  S-Wall system\, a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to EIFS for retrofitting and new construction projects. Learn how S-Wall provides superior thermal insulation\, faster installation\, and modern utility integration while being fully compliant with NYC’s strict façade and energy efficiency regulations. S-Wall is engineered for retrofitting reclad/overclad projects and is also an ideal choice for new block\, plank\, and light metal gauge construction. \nLearning Objectives: \n1. Retrofitting for Sustainability and Compliance: Explore how the S-Wall system helps buildings meet modern sustainability and energy standards\, addressing both  Local Law 97 for energy efficiency and  Local Law 11 for façade inspections. With  thermal resistance of R-10.5 to R-35.5\, S-Wall enhances building energy performance\, reduces carbon emissions\, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards. \n2. Cost and Time Efficiency in Retrofitting: Learn how the S-Wall system provides  faster installation than EIFS\, with zero on-site waste and no “wet” processes required. Compatible with scaffolding\, boom or scissor lifts\, and cradles\, S-Wall can be installed in almost any weather condition\, further accelerating project timelines. We will share examples of reduced labor costs and quicker installations in real-world applications. \n3. Integrated Utilities for Enhanced Building Performance: Discover how S-Wall integrates utilities such as  PTAC units\, heat pumps\, louvers\, and lighting into the building’s façade\, creating an all-in-one system that optimizes energy use and functionality. This integrated approach delivers superior energy efficiency and a more modern\, sustainable building solution. \n4. Non-Combustibility and Safety Benefits: Understand why S-Wall is a  non-combustible system\, requiring no additional firesafing or NFPA 285 compliance. Its robust design ensures long-term safety while addressing the common issues seen in NYC façades\, making it a superior solution for  reclad/overclad projects and  new construction. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Register Here

SUMMARY:Webinar - Durable & Resilient Retrofits – Solving with stone wool insulation: By Rockwool
DESCRIPTION:Globally\, existing buildings account for approximately 30% of final energy demand and CO2 emissions. Typical renovation rates are 1-2% of the building stock per year\, with an average energy use intensity (EUI) reduction of less than 15%. However\, to reach sustainable development and climate targets\, EUI reductions should be between 30-50%. In addition to energy and emissions conservations\, building retrofits improve occupant health and comfort. In many cases\, existing buildings are poorly insulated and leaky\, resulting in excess heat loss and reduced thermal comfort. Mechanical systems are often outdated and inefficient\, requiring consistent maintenance. With spending most of our time indoors\, indoor health and comfort can be a priceless attribute that can be crucial for building renewal investment. This course will review core concepts to consider when implementing energy conservation measures through retrofit & renovation; Three unique case studies are provided to highlight the complexity of renovations and look at the ever-present challenges of extreme weather events. \n  \nPHI Credits: 1 LU & AIA Credits: 1 LU/HSW\n \n  \n  \n Register Here

SUMMARY:Shaping the Next Generation of Passive House Tools. By Honeybee-PH
DESCRIPTION:This presentation will discuss some of the main challenges Passive House modelers face with our current tooling\, and how advancements in technology are helping to overcome many of those issues. Specifically\, we will look in some depth at the free and open-source Honeybee-PH software toolkit\, and how it can be used to resolve many common modeling issues and challenges Passive House teams face on a day to day basis. We will discuss best-practices when it comes to model input-data management\, and how we can use new technologies like cloud-based database tools to successfully reduce complexity and errors in our Passive House models while enhancing reusability. We will finish by looking at some exciting new tools and future trends which are made possible by cloud computing and demonstrate some exciting nascent software solutions that will help Passive House modelers as the community moves into bigger and more complex buildings. \nPHI Credits: 1 LU & AIA Credits: 1 LU\n \n  \n  \n Register Here

SUMMARY:Vancouver Passive House Policy and the Fire Hall 17
DESCRIPTION:  \nThis Project Spotlight will highlight Fire Hall 17\, an active fire station that was built and certified to the Passive House standard. Because of the unique requirements a fire station has for the building that houses the equipment and staff\, the building performance Expert Elise Woestyn is able to give insights into how the project was realized and how the planning team and builders overcame the challenges in the process. Being such a unique and interesting building typology\, it also provides an example to be replicated in other countries. \n  \nThe second speaker\, Chris Higgins\, representing the city government of Vancouver\, will present the policy initiatives the city has in place to promote the uptake of highly energy-efficient buildings. Incentives are essential in freeing up the resources to make sure that the built environment becomes more energy efficient and reduce carbon emissions connected to the operational energy in the process. \nRegister for the webinar

SUMMARY:Project Spotlight: outPHit single-family concept retrofit in Germany
DESCRIPTION:This iPHA webinar overviews the serial modernizations implemented in the EU project outPHit. Using the renovation of a single-family home in Darmstadt\, Germany\, the speaker\, Dr Berthold Kaufmann\, provides detailed insights into the implementation and planning of the building. \nWhile single-family Passive Houses are a well-established building typology\, the outPHit streamlined approach can make the building process more efficient and quicker. Having a formulated concept from the beginning of the retrofit process helps avoid mistakes and supports the project team in making the right decisions early on. \nThis lecture is part of the EU project outPHit. The European Union funds the project to simplify renovations and reliably create highly efficient buildings.
